Herman Mashaba points to the root of JHB billing crisis

Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba says the root of the billing crisis is the previous leadership.

The root of the billing crisis was leadership. Those are the people I am charging for corruption today. The City of Johannesburg has declared corruption public enemy number one and we are winning.

Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba

Residents in the city have complained for years about a billing system that charges them exorbitant amounts of money.

Mashaba has vowed to alleviate the suffering residents have had to endure as a result of the crisis.

The mayor also exressed his satisfaction with emergency services who dealt with the storm that hit parts of Gauteng on Monday.

I really take my hat off to emergency services and everyone else coming to the party.
