Competition Commission successes in fighting anti-competitive behaviour in SA

The Competition Commission appeared before the Parliament's Portfolio Committee to give their annual report.

Commissioner at Competition Commission Thembinkosi Bonakele speaks to CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies about some of the cases they have dealt with in the previous year.

Bonakele spoke about the settlement they have reached with ArcelorMittal in 2016 as well as the acquiring of SA Miller by InBev. These are some of the cases that made headlines in South Africa and globally.

The big highlights of the previous year was the R1.5 billion settlement with ArcelorMittal and the agreement that they will curb their Ebitda margin to prevent excessive pricing...

There was also a big merger last year, the acquiring of SA Miller by InBev where we imposed conditions. The highlight of that was the R 1 billion set aside to assist South African farmers to get into the value chain.
