eThekwini mayor visits flood-stricken areas in KZN

Senior Kwazulu-Natal officials including the eThekwini mayor are visiting several areas across the province to assess the damage caused by storms.

At least 7 people died as a result of flash flooding or structural collapses caused by the heavy downpours on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, eThekwini Emergency Services say the search for a toddler who was swept by floods is expected to resume.

EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie spoke to Ray White for an update.

As far as I am aware at this stage rescue efforts are continuing.

I have also just had an update that there have been as many as 8 people who have sustained fatal injuries. These range from several incidents that occurred almost directly related to the rain and the weather.

Disaster management teams are out in the affected communities today seeing who needs assistance.
