Idols judge Unathi Msengana showcases her fifth studio album on #702Unplugged

A Rhodes University Journalism and Drama graduate, a University of Utrecht International Media studies graduate, Unathi Msengana moved to Johannesburg in 2001, becoming a presenter for Castle Loud.

She then moved onto the YFM platform and later co-anchored the breakfast show on Metro FM with Glen Lewis.

Musically Unathi has wooed audiences of all calibers. Performing for the United Nations delegates she evoked such strong emotions that legendary producer Quincy Jones gave her a standing ovation and proceeded to join her on stage during her performance to sing her praises.

She has shared the stage with international greats such John Legend and Yossou Ndou.

This young Power House has graced South Africa’s biggest stage and the fourth largest stage in the world, the Cape Town International Jazz Festival as well as the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz alongside many other.

One of her proudest achievements is writing her song “Sgubhu” which is on the soundtrack for the Oscar/Academy Award winning movie “Tsotsi”.

With only 12 years of experience under her belt, it is evident that South Africa has given birth to a true gem, Unathi.
