Death toll in Somalia attack likely to rise, bodies being dug up

At least 263 people have been killed in twin bomb explosions in the heart of Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Saturday.

This is the deadliest attack since an Islamist insurgency began in 2007.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo has declared three days of national mourning and called for donations of blood and funds to victims.

Africa corespondent, Crystal Orderson says the death toll is likely to rise.

The emergency services are still having their hands full because they are digging out bodies. This bomb attack took place on one of the busiest streets of Mogadishu.

No one has claimed responsibility even though the President blamed Al-Shabaab.
