Stellies 'worm whizz' wants to know what fisherfolk use on their hooks

Bloodworms, Wonder worms, Shingle worms, moonshine worms or pudding worms? Which of these are most often used as fish bait?

That's what marine biologist Dr Carol Simon hopes to find out in her fishermen survey.

We're interested in finding out what worms are being used.

A national survey among fishermen is being conducted by researchers from Stellenbosch University, SANParks Garden Route National Park and the Knysna Basin Project.

Dr Simon says the aim of the survey is to gain a better understanding of the demand on worms as bait along the South African coastline.
