ANC Youth Activists distance themselves from WC ANCYL reshuffle statements

ANC Youth Activists have released a statement distancing themselves from the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) in the Western Cape. This follows the ANC Youth League's welcoming Zuma's cabinet reshuffle on Tuesday.

This is not the first time they have distanced themselves from the ANCYL Western Cape. On the anniversary of the ANCYL, they endorsed Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, something the ANC Youth Activists did not support.

Mesuli Kama, an ANC Youth Activist says that these incidents keep occurring because there is no Provincial Executive Committee (PEC)

In the Western Cape we do not have a legitimate PEC. The PEC who is there today is a PEC whose term, according to the constitution, ended in February. So they do not have any constitutional baring or standing as a structure.

Mesuli Kama, ANC Youth Activist

Kama says that in this illegitimate PEC, there are only arounf six people who release statements. He adds that they do not understand why the national executive committee of the ANCYL have remained silent on the issue surrounding the ANCYL Western Cape.

Kama believes national executive committee of the ANCYL may want to use the ANCYL Western Cape as a mouth piece. He also believes that statement's are released because of the ties members of the PEC have with certain ministers.

It's all about defending individuals, not really about exposing or communicating the views of young people in the province. As young activist we can't stand quietly while that is happening.
