I was not introduced to Ajay Gupta - Grootes

Former Eskom CEO Brian Dames has told Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises that he was asked by Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba’s adviser Siyabonga Mahlangu to meet “some people”, whom he assumes were members of the Gupta family,

He appeared before the committee in an inquiry into allegations of state capture at Eskom on Wednesday.

Commenting on the matter, Stephen Grootes says he was never formally introduced to Ajay Gupta before conducting an interview organised by Bell Pottinger in 2016.

I also wasn't introduced, I sort of knew who I was talking to but I was not introduced. He did not introduce himself to me certainly.

The same thing actually happened if you go through the documents with Mcebisi Jonas, the former deputy finance minister.
