Divorce mediation is a crucial process for couples who decide to end their marriage, says relationship coach Stephanie Dawson-Cosser.

Divorce mediation involves the presence of a third neutral party who helps divorcing spouses try to negotiate an acceptable divorce agreement.

The mediator helps the spouses to communicate and negotiate but doesn't make any decisions for them, Stephanie Dawson-Cosser explains.

She says mediation helps establish a way forward for both parties, particularly when there are children involved.

Even though the romantic relationship is over between them, they are still going to have to co-parent their children.
