Life Esidimeni: All deaths to be approached as unnatural till proven otherwise

It's day 15 of the Life Esidimeni hearings into the deaths of 141 people who died after they were moved to unlicensed NGOs.

EWN reporter Masego Rahlaga says the former chairperson of the Gauteng mental health review board Dumazile Masondo was questioned on how the Esidimeni tragedy could have happened on her watch.

Masondo and the entire board was suspended by Gauteng Health MEC Gwen Ramokgopa in March 2017.

There are 127 criminal cases that are being investigated, of that 127 - 38 were concluded by pathologists as unnatural.

But the police have decided to approach all deaths as unnatural until they are proven otherwise.
