Chief Justice Moseneke shows frustration with Esidimeni offenders

The founder of an NGO where patients from Esidimeni died has confirmed that she received and used money from Sassa cards belonging to the deceased patients.

Dorothy Franks ran the Anchor House NGO where five patients died between July and October last year.

Franks testified in the arbitration hearings in Parktown on Monday.

Eyewitness News reporter Masego Rahlaga has more on the developing story.

With Dorothy Franks, she took patients she did not have experience to look after, did not have nursing staff, a dietitian, a psychologist.

Rahlaga says retired deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke appeared to be frustrated with Frank.

He was saying to her that you really want us to believe that you are innocent after taking so many patients into your care, overcrowding them in wards that were supposed to take 55 people. So he has just really shown that he is impatient and growing more and more impatient.
