South Africa has been announced as the preferred candidate to host the Rugby World Cup in 2023.
SA Rugby CEO Jurie Roux says this recommendation confirms that South Africa's bid has technically been the best.
However, the endorsement does not guarantee that the tournament will automatically be held in SA.
The recommendation will now be put to a vote of the World Rugby Council on 15 November.
39 general council members will vote in secret ballot to determine the official host.
Ireland and France are the other two countries bidding to host the international sporting event.
