DA gets green light to question Zuma on R1 million security money claims

The issue of state capture is expected to take precedence as President Jacob Zuma prepares to answer questions from MPs in Parliament on Thursday.

While Zuma will be asked to shed some light on the legal fees racked up in his lengthy court battle and the National Prosecuting Authority's decision to drop criminal against him, this is only one of six questions.

The Democratic Alliance has put in a request to the Speaker's office for an urgent question to be added to the afternoon's proceedings.

The question relates to allegations made by journalist, Jacques Pauw in his book The President's Keepers.

One of the claims is that Zuma received around R1 million a month from Royal Security, a company linked to his friend and African National Congres (ANC) benefactor Roy Moodley.

Eyewitness News reporter Gaye Davis has more on what to expect.

The DA argued for this question to be included today because it is President Jacob Zuma's last oral reply session for this year, the next one is only likely to take place in March next year.

The office of the Speaker has given the green light for this question to be put on to the order paper.

Even if the President ducks and dives this afternoon , at least the MPs are doing their job and putting these questions to him.
