John Sanei is the first South African accepted into the Singularity University

702 host, Azania Mosaka had the honour of broadcasting live from the inaugural Liberty VUKA Knowledge Summit hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre on Thursday.

The summit was themed: Awaken Your Curiosity.

Some of the keynote speakers at the summit included renowned entrepreneurs, business leaders such as; Nobel Prize winner Wole Soyinka and founder of online platform Flexy, Annette Muller, Russell Simmons, John Sanei and Kimberly Bryant to name a few.

John Sanei is a trend specialist, strategist, global speaker, facilitator, coach, author, optimist, and entrepreneur and recently became the first South African admitted to Singularity University Faculty.

Singularity University (SU), is a global community that uses exponential technologies to tackle the world’s biggest challenges and empower individuals and organizations with the mindset, skillset, and network to build breakthrough solutions that leverage emerging technologies.

It's metabolically expensive to unlearn - in other words it makes your head hurt. It is easy to be pessimistic, it is difficult to be optimistic when things are changing so rapidly.

John Sanei, Trend specialist, strategist, global speaker, facilitator, coach, author, optimist and entrepreneur

Some of the things Sanei addressed in his talk at the summit was unlearning and ridding oneself of negativity as well as keeping up with the world's disruption.

Disruption has been with us from the beginning of time it's just that it is speeding up and in order of us to get ahead of it we need to expose ourselves more frequently to what is happening explains Sanei.

He adds that because people get so caught up with their daily lives they then don't get the sort of energy and exposure to the future it demands of them.

Spend a couple of hours exposing yourself to the future.

What I tried to get the audience to do is to move away from understanding profitability as the only success factor in a business. A business moving forward into the future requires to be successful in three different areas: How are you impacting your employees? How are you impacting the environment? How much profit are you making?

John Sanei, Trend specialist, strategist, global speaker, facilitator, coach, author, optimist and entrepreneur

"When we are able to measure those three things, we move away from only micro focus to macro focus, and that is really what conscious capitalism is; building businesses that have a light footprint on the earth, create incredible work environments that are 100 per cent consumer focused and still able to make money?"

John Sanei, Trend specialist, strategist, global speaker, facilitator, coach, author, optimist and entrepreneur

Sanei said he hopes that delegates to the conference will walk away with a new perspective on understanding a new way to measure success.
