Cell C launches its own entertainment platform

Cell C will soon launch an entertainment platform called Black. This will offer video, music, concert tickets and sports betting.

Chief Executive of Content at Cell C, Surie Ramasary says the entertainment platform will be the first in South Africa and users will be able to rent and and purchase movies as well as subscription video streaming services at various price points.

Black can be accessed on Android via Google play as well as a web application for video streaming. They are also looking at making it available for Apple users on iOS, says Ramasary.

The service launch date is on November 14.

We are also launching a setup box that will allow our customers to convert their non-smart TV into smart TVs.

The content will be relevant for the South African market.

The consumer for the first time will be able to use prepaid airtime to access the product. It will not only be available for Cell C customers but the market at large.
