Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has revealed that Naledi Pandor would be his running mate in the leadership campaign for the African National Congress (ANC) elective conference.
Addressing his campaign rally at the Tafelkopp stadium in Ga-Sekhukhune in Limpopo, Ramaphosa called upon the party members to elect leaders who are capable of taking the movement and the country forward.
Political analyst Karima Brown says quite a few people were surprised and this signals an intense trade-off behind the scenes.
I checked with people who are close to the Cyril Ramphosa campaign, quite a few people were surprised. But what I think it does point to is that the behind the scenes discussions and trade-offs within the different camps becoming really intense.
