The African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee meeting takes place this weekend.
It is a critical meeting, with under 50 days to go before the party faithful gather to elect a new leadership.
Political analyst Karima Brown says this NEC will look to resolve current issues facing the party.
This NEC is ostensibly called to try and put together what constitutes as the mess inside the African National Congress, and we know of course there are court actions pending in the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape and in the Free State.

We have to look at the background against which the meeting takes place. This is the first gathering of all the ANC's top leaders since the book of Jacques Pauw.

But don't hold your breathe, this is an organisation that will tell you they are not gathered to discuss what is in books.
