Cyril Ramaphosa may face discipline for going against ANC tradition - reporter

The African National Congress (ANC) National Executive Committee (NEC )meeting takes place this weekend.

It is a critical meeting with under 50 days to go before the party faithful gather to elect a new leadership in December. The main purpose of the meeting will be to discuss nomination process and iron out anything to do with the upcoming elective conference.

Others issue to be discussed include various court actions that the ANC is currently dealing with, including in KZN and the Eastern Cape where their recent conference turned violent.

Sources have told Eyewitness news that some NEC members will push for Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to be disciplined after announcing his preferred leadership slate last weekend.

EWN Reporter Clement Manyathela says there's likely to be fireworks at the meeting.

Ramaphosa recently announced his slate and called upon the party members to elect Science and Technology Minister, Naledi Pandor as his deputy president in the December elective conference.

Manyathela goes on to say that the Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma camp told him they are concerned about the position ANC Secretary general, Gwede Mantashe is in.

In fact they believe he is in an unattainable position and are questioning his objectivity.
