South Africa's hopes of hosting the 2023 Rugby World have been dashed when France was announced as the host nation on Wednesday afternoon.
France will stage the tournament for the second time following their hosting of the tournament in 2007.
Kaunda Ntunja, Rugby commentator at Supersport spoke to 702's Afternoon host, Bongani Bingwa about the disappointing news.
Ntunja says he is bitterly disappointed as the tournament stood to benefit South Africa tremendously in the jobs and travel and tourism sectors.
I'm bitterly disappointed.— Kaunda Ntunja, Rugby commentator at Supersport
A lot of the critics would point at the lack of transformation in the country.— Kaunda Ntunja, Rugby Commentator at Supersport
Another thing that probably was a telling point were the promises made in hopes of hosting the Commonwealth Games which didn't come to fruition adds Ntunja.
