Zola Tsotsi and Brian Molefe to answer to Parly state capture probe

Former Eskom board chair and former CEO Brian Molefe have a lot to answer to when they appear before the Public Enterprise portfolio committee inquiry into state capture.

Former Public Protector Thuli Madonsela's State of Capture report revealed Molefe's close relationship with the controversial Gupta brothers during his reign at Eskom.

The report showed that he called Ajay Gupta 44 times and went to Saxonwold, where the family resides, at least 19 times between August 2015 and March 2016.

It was around the time that the Gupta-owned Tegeta Exploration was preparing to buy Optimum Coal, which it did, with help from Eskom.

The paratastal made a pre-payment of R659 million to Tegeta for future coal supplies, which enabled the company to buy Optimum Coal.

Karima Brown said Brian Molefe is already in enough trouble.

The Defence union is now going to bring criminal charges against Brian Molefe and the debacle around how he gets to draw a salary as Colonel in the Defence Force.

There has been an enourmous amount of effort by the State Security Minister and Lynne Brown to collapse this inquiry. I'm interested to hear how their (Molefe and Tsotsi) recollection of events will square off.
