The Gathering is the ultimate political event of the year

Politicians, journalists and the public are converging at ‘The Gathering’ in Sandton. It is the political event that gives political leaders, news-makers, and the community a chance to air their views. The hot topic at the moment is the ANC elective conference.

We’ve heard some great conversations here at The Gathering, says EWN reporter, Katleho Sekhoth. 702 host Bongani Bingwa earlier spoke to Mavuso Msimang, former ANC MP Makhosi Khoza and controversial cartoonist Zapiro adds Sekhoth.

Msimang admits that politicians have really let the country down and perhaps, a second revolution is needed in South Africa, says Sekhotho.

Touching on what Msimang said, I noted his comments about the BEE system which was adopted after 1994. He went on to say that it should have really provided the opportunity for entrepreneurs to provide input into business.

On that same panel, former ANC MP, Makhosi Khoza touched on the different kinds on injustices that exist in South Africa, adding that corruption has had its victims says Sekhotho.

The highlight of The Gathering was an address by Zimbabwe’s former Financial Minister Tendai Biti says Sekhotho. She adds that Biti went into depth about the massive changes that are needed in Zimbabwe since Mugabe resigned.

There has been some great conversations.
