Petrolheads go gaga for the Audi RS5 Coupé

Weekend Breakfast host Sara-Jayne King and automotive journalist, Jacob Moshokoa chat about a beast of a car that's making waves.

The new Audi RS5 Coupé has officially arrived in South Africa, sporting a fresh 2,9-litre twin-turn V6. The RS5 Coupé comes in several mouthwatering colours, including the new Sonoma green metallic. Audi’s virtual cockpit is standard on the new RS5 Coupé, while a head-up display is optional.

Audi’s become so aggressive now in their sport range, where they’re releasing these cars that are competing with the likes of super cars.

Jacob Moshokoa, Automotive journalist

The car has RS sport seats in Nappa leather, with a honeycomb pattern along with a flat-bottomed RS multi function sport steering wheel. The RS design package adds contrasting red elements on the center console, armrests, seat belts and floor mats.

I found that the V6 was a little subtle in terms of the sound compared to it’s predecessor says Moshokoa. He adds that in terms of performance, it doesn’t disappoint.

It does a 0 – 100 in under 4 seconds.

Jacob Moshokoa, Automotive journalist

If you match these numbers with the likes of the Ferrari California, you have to understand that Audi is taking on the big dogs says Moshokoa. In excitement, Moshokoa adds that Audi is taking on Ferrari, which is becoming a big deal.
