Gender violence in the Spotlight

Moloto Mothapo: We need to redouble our (fighting gender-based violence) efforts

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign runs every year from 25 November and is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls.

This past weekend, the United Nations condemned the violent crimes against women and children in South Africa. It says about one in four women are victims of violent abuse and estimated one hundred rapes occur every single day.

South African Parliamentary spokesperson, Moloto Mothapo spoke to The Midday Report about the effectiveness of the annual campaign.
