Teen St Elmo’s bomb survivor all grown up and working for a good cause

The urban terror campaign of the late 1990s left a number of people injured and some even lost limbs. A particular incident, a bomb blast at St Elmo's restaurant in Camps Bay left about 48 people injured.

Amongst them was a 16 years-old Olivia Milner who lost her leg in the explosion.

The Pippa Hudson Show managed to track down Milner to her home in Colorado in the USA, where she and her husband run a small silica jewellery design business on the side of their other formal careers.

Many of you wondered what had become of her.

We came across a video clip describing a young South African woman who was raising funds for adaptive cycling in the US. And guess who it was?

We managed to track down Olivia to her home in Colorado in the USA.

CapeTalk's Pippa Hudson spoke to Milner to find out how her life has progressed since the explosion in 1999.

I remember nothing about it .... my memory is really messed up all around that time. For a period of time after the bombing it really bothered me that I remembered nothing. I mean it disturbed me that something so big happened in my life and I was blank...

I remember visiting a friend and behind the door, there was a newspaper clipping of the photo (a photo of her mom at the scene). I remember the feeling like I was punched in gut, it truly depicted the terror of a parent not knowing where your child is.

I was in hospital for two months - I was kept in induced coma for about a month...
