CEO of the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (Outa), Wayne Duvenage, says that MultiChoice needs to tell the truth about its contracts with Gupta-owned television news channel ANN7.
He says the contract with ANN7 was supposed to come to an end mid-2018, but there were amendments to the contract and additional payments made for reasons that have not been disclosed.
They say there is nothing untoward but that's not the way it seems...

Until there are clear explanations as to why certain transactions happened people are going to speculate.

One can't hide behind confidentiality clauses unless there are real reasons for that and it doesn't appear to be. This is the problem that appears in these commercial transactions.

Duvenage says it has engaged with MultiChoice's management who has indicated that this is the norm and there is nothing untoward going on.
He says they will be in contact with them again to get explanations on some of the recent information received.
