Suspended Gauteng Health HOD Dr Barney Selebano has turned to the High Court to fight against a subpoena to testify at the Life Esidimeni hearings.
TAC national deputy chairperson, Patrick Mdletshe had this to say about the outcome of the hearing:
We’re sad about what transpired in the hearing...We will continue to demand, from the public servants the accountability to the general public.— Patrick Mdletshe, TAC National Deputy Chairperson
Selebano’s rights were not trampled on, says Mdletshe. He adds that as a public servant, Selebano was entrusted to execute his tasks to the best of his abilities.
We feel that he has actually betrayed his oath as a doctor, but he further went on not to show remorse.— Patrick Mdletshe, TAC National Deputy Chairperson
Selebano is disrespectful says Mdletshe.
We will continue to monitor, and we will await the court decision, but then in any given way, we will try by all means to make sure he actually comes and testifies.— Patrick Mdletshe, TAC National Deputy Chairperson
