"We're seeing the divisions in the ANC caucus" - EWN Reporter

Despite an attempt by a few members of the African National Congress to stop it, this evening saw the debate on the “scourge of state capture” go ahead.

For EWN Parliamentary Reporter Gaye Davis, this debate which was arranged by official opposition the saw the division in the ruling party.

What we are seeing here are the divisions in the [ANC] caucus laid bare. You can see who is repeatedly rising to derail this debate.

Gaye Davis, EWN Parliamentary Reporter

For Davis, a significant person from the ANC was Lulu Makhubela-Mashele, who was the first MP from the ruling party to speak after opposition chief whip John Steenhuisen.

Davis voice was very strong in the debate.

She was talking about the fact that the hopes and aspirations of the citizens rest on this parliament and its members and the importance of proper governance and accountability of all state organs and the roles Parliament ha to play in ensuring that you have that.
