Political desk: Ruling expected over Free State PEC

A court ruling is expected on the legitimacy of the African National Congress (ANC) leadership in the Free State on Wednesday.

Members of the party approached the Bloemfontein High Court in a bid to have the leadership dissolved and chairperson Ace Magashule removed. Political analyst Karima Brown says the if the court rules in favor of these members, this may affect Tuesday's general council where Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma was officially elected for the position of ANC president.

Karima Brown, political analyst

What is possible is that we will have a return to what we had in 2012 where the court ruled that the PEC was actually fraudulently put together...they might as a PEC sit out and of course lost their vote as a province but it also impacts the way that they are able to interact with delegates.
