'Nothing untoward about ANC Free State's provincial general council'

The African National Congress (ANC) in the Free State says there was nothing untoward about Tuesday's provincial general council. It appears party members and media were informed about the sudden meeting to consolidate branches' leadership nominations ahead of the December elective conference on Monday.

Questions have been raised over the absence of Ace Magashule's deputy in the ANC in the Free State, Thabo Manyoni.

Free State ANC spokesperson Thabo Meeko has responded to claims surrounding the gathering.

He says he cannot disclose Manyoni's reasons for missing the event. He also insists branches were given proper notice.

There is nothing untoward about the processes of our meeting, it's convening, the delay and time it had taken to conclude it's business. We ought to satisfy ourselves as the leadership and the Luthuli House of the ANC.

Thabo Meeko, ANC Free State spokesperson

Th deputy chair is not the only one, not the entire PEC was there including him, he tendered an apology that he will not be able to attend the meeting, can't disclose why. It is an ANC internal matter.
