LISTEN: Teko Modise opens up about his turbulent relationship with Pitso

Soccer star Teko Modise says the tension experienced between him and Pitso Mosimane was purely a personality clash.

In his tell-all biography, The Curse of Teko Modise, the midfielder details the run-in's he had with the Mamelodi Sundowns coach and how this lead to his resignation.

He says Mosimane expected more of him.

I don't think he doesn't like me at all, that would be false. Me and him are very similar, we don't like losing, we always want to do things perfectly.

Teko Modise, Cape Town City midfielder

I think maybe one of the things is that he had high expectations of me and sometimes found that I could not deliver what was expected of me and maybe he got frustrated.

Teko Modise, Cape Town City midfielder

I thought as well there was a time we had certain differences, we could have sorted them out but we couldn't and those things started growing and growing and people started asking questions.

The book also focuses on Modise's obsession with tattoos, how Doctor Khumalo inspired his career choices, as well as the strained relationship with his father.

I hope that maybe one day we can actually have a chat because I know he [father] probably had his own challenges.

Teko Modise, Cape Town City midfielder

I had to be independent at a very young age, so when I had difficulties especially being caught up with fame and fortune I didn't speak up and had to face my situation alone and those things have been properly explained in the book. You need to speak up....
