Cosatu gives SACP the cold shoulder for contesting Metsimaholo by-elections

The Central Executive Committee of Cosatu has made a resolution that it won't be supporting the South African Communist Party during its contest in Metsimaholo by-elections.

EWN reporter, Clement Manyathela says Cosatu announced during its media briefing on Thursday, that its only resolution, is to stand with the ANC during elections.

Another thing that came out of this briefing is that the federation has poured cold water on the peace talks by the President, saying that it is adamant on its support for Cyril Ramaphosa to replace Jacob Zuma.

The federation had said initially that the only person who can save this alliance is Cyril Ramaphosa. They were sort of giving an indication that if Ramaphosa doesn't win, this could be the end of the alliance.
