Jubilation for both Ramaphosa and Nkosazana-Dlamini Zuma in KZN

EWN's Ziyanda Ngcobo says there was jubilation from both the Cyril Ramaphosa and the Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma camps on Monday as nomination votes from the various KwaZulu-Natal branches were tallied. Ngcobo says it was a "great and unsurprising" win for NDZ with 433 branches nominating her and 193 branches backing Ramaphosa.

This is a reflection of what the branches are thinking but it's difficult to say how delegates will vote once they get to the conference, this is a proportional kind of numbers game...

Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter

If one branch, eThekwini region which is the biggest region in the ANC, has 5 000 members and will send 5 or 6 delegates to the conference, that's where the numbers matter.

Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter

Ngcobo says the modus operandi adopted by Ramaphosa's camp is to pretend to be supportive of Dlamini-Zuma to get into the conference and then change the situation once they're there.
