Eskom Inquiry: Ajay Gupta spills the beans about his whereabouts

Ajay Gupta’s lawyers have written to the Parliamentary committee overseeing the ongoing Eskom Inquiry, disputing allegations by Eskom’s suspended head of legal, Suzanne Daniels.

A few weeks ago, Daniels told the Public Enterprises Portfolio Committee that she had attended a meeting with Gupta at the infamous ‘Saturday meeting at Melrose Arch’. Ajay Gupta’s lawyers are denying Daniel's claims saying that the meeting never took place.

Ajay Gupta, through his lawyers, has finally broken his silence notes EWN reporter Rahima Essop.

Apparently, he was in India on the 29th of July.

Essop says that through his lawyers, Gupta told MPs that there is a YouTube clip showing him attending a religious festival in India on that date in July.

Gupta claims a screenshot of that video exists, which proves he was out of the country, says Essop. She adds that the lawyers have said they are in possession of additional evidence proving his whereabouts.

He has not sent a link to that YouTube video.

Essop says that the letters sent by Gupta, and his reference to annexures, have not been received by the MPs. She adds that both letters are not signed and MPs have difficulty responding to a document with no signature.

It lacks credibility.
