On Wednesday the Deputy Minister of Public Enterprises Ben Martins was subpoenaed to appear before the Public Enterprises committee which is probing state capture at Eskom.
Martins is however not prepared to answer questions in Parliament and has opted for a written submission.
Earlier in the inquiry Eskom’s suspended head of legal Suzanne Daniels told the Public Enterprises Portfolio Committee that she attended a meeting with Martins and Ajay Gupta in July earlier this year, where they discussed former CEO Brian Molefe’s legal challenge at the time.

What you saw yesterday was an attempt to obfuscate. It's not the first time that they try to retard the work of the committee. A very decided attempt to try and sidetrack.— Karima Brown, political analyst
Unlike the courts, these matters cannot be postponed, they cannot be appealed, they will be probed in granular detail and there is no running away.— Karima Brown, political analyst
