[LISTEN] BLSA concerned about Steinhoff and MultiChoice corruption allegations

Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA) says it is concerned over allegations of corruption involving both Naspers and Steinhoff.

A criminal team in Germany is said to be examining documents seized in their investigation into Steinhoff.

About R183 billion of value was wiped off the JSE following allegations of financial irregularities at the furniture retailer as well as the resignation of its chief executive.

In the meantime BLSA CEO Bonang Mohale says the organisation has initiated discussions with Naspers-owned MultiChoice.

MultiChoice has been accused of paying kickbacks to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and ANN7 – then Gupta-owned - in exchange for political influence.

BLSA continues to condemn and take seriously any behavior that is unethical and entirely at odds with our own values

Bonang Mohale, BLSA CEO

We can confirm that we have initiated with both MultiChoice and their parent company Naspers regarding these allegations reported in the media.

Bonang Mohale, BLSA CEO

BLSA remains unwavering in our commitment to the highest ethical and lawful standards. We wilL continue to take necessary action where it is warranted.
