ANC 2017 Elective Conference

"We can't base unity on Ramaphosa and Dlamini-Zuma individually" - ANC chairman

Gauteng ANC chairman Paul Mashatile recebtly stated that he wants a "unity" outcome at the ANC national elective conference. He says his statements are not about getting agreement on one leader but on a set of leaders for the greater good of the organisation.

For Mashatile unity is about the unity of the ANC as a whole.

Unity to me is about the unity of the ANC. As I've said in some quarters, it can't be about an individual.

Paul Mashatile, Gauteng ANC chairman

When we talk about unity is must be because we in the ANC want to work together.

Paul Mashatile, Gauteng ANC chairman

Mashatile adds that the ANC are running away from slate politics and the winner takes all approach. He also says that the road to unity in the party will come through engagement.
