[LISTEN] NDZ slate is too close to Gupta family - Bheki Cele

African National Congress(ANC) NEC member Bheki Cele says relations between those working with former African Union Commission head Nkosazna Dlamini Zuma and the Gupa family are 'too close for comfort'.

Cele sat down with Eusebius Mckaiser to discuss his previous tenure as National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, as well as his sentiments on the current ANC presidential candidates.

He has reiterated statements made during an interview with the City Press, in which he is quoted as saying: "I know Nkosazana. We have worked together. I have no political issues with her. But her line-up is the Guptas’ lineup. That means this war that we are fighting against the damage the Guptas are doing will be perpetuated. It means that one day, the headquarters of the ANC will go to Saxonwold."

He says 'anything' closely related to the Gupta family makes him uncomfortable.

Some people in the top six that work with her are too close for my comfort when it comes to the Gupta family.

Bheki Cele, ANC NEC member

Let's take one person that would be there and has been nominated for secretary general. The person nominated is too close with the Guptas. The allegation is that the money for their wedding came from his government. That's why I say that the headquarters won't be moved from where it is to Saxonwold.

Bheki Cele, ANC NEC member

Cele says would have no problem if Dlamini Zuma wasat the helm of the ruling party, but he would remain skeptical.

He explains his support for Cyril Ramaphosa.

Somebody will have to tell me what does not make him a president on all platforms where he has served, starting with NUM. To me it looks like things that he does, he completes them. Everything that he has done has really put us on the map.
