Cape Town V&A Waterfront's 3-year plan to boot use of plastic bottles and bags

Ceo at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, David Green says the precinct has made a decision to eradicate the use of single-use plastic bottles and single-use plastic bags.

They are intending to do this over a three year period starting from the beginning of 2018.

We have 23 000 people who live and work here. The Waterfront is privately owned and managed which gives us a bit of control.

What we are saying is that we are going to create an opportunity for the V&A to actually move to the elimination phase. It is done in a lot of countries.

Green says that the long-term plan is to eventually have a centralised plant at the precinct which will clean, fill and distribute glass bottles to all the eateries.
