#ANC54 Social media reacts to Ramaphosa win, new top 6
There has been mixed reaction to Cyril Rmaphosa's appointment as leader of the African National Congress (ANC), with some social media users saying Nkosazna Dlamini Zuma was the better candidate.
This was a very close race with 179 votes separating the two. Ramaphosa received 2 440 votes compared to Dlamini Zuma's 2 261.
He is the 14th president of the ruling party.
I maintain that Nkosazana was the better candidate. In struggle and governance, she is just better. Her ascension path was her undoing, I would have loved to rally behind her. https://t.co/2ilCbUaS2j— Musa Gwebani (@musa_gwebani) December 18, 2017
I would have preferred NDZ at the helm because I still think she was the better candidate.— Princess of Nkandla (@Sisi_Sasha) December 18, 2017
Let’s assume Ramaphosa has the *best intentions*. But does he have the guts required to stand up to the rest of the Top 6 with 2 very Premier League strongmen? History says no, he stood by silently while Zuma & acolytes looted the state. So the answer is no.— Phumzile Van Damme (@zilevandamme) December 18, 2017
There is some skepticism about the overall top six, more so with David Mabuza as deputy president.
