ANC 2017 Elective Conference

SACP remains concerned about Zuma and Gupta influence

There’s still a lot for the ANC to deal with although it’s the last day: Policy discussion, report backs in plenary and the newly elected President, Cyril Ramaphosa’s victory speech.

First Deputy General Secretary of SACP Solly Mapaila joined the conversation by saying that the conference responded to the call for South Africa to have a strategic and radical change.

He adds that the election of Ramaphosa was important because it has re-energised the ANC and its citizens.

President Zuma is now compelled by a court order to establish a commission within 30 days says Mapaila. He adds that the SACP is concerned about Zuma’s administration and the extent of the Gupta’s influence on government decisions.

The commission is now coming, the President is compelled by a court order to do so.

Mapaila says that the court has made a call highlighting that, regardless of your position, if you have done wrong, you need to be held accountable for your actions.

We think that the law must take its course, if there are serious allegations against anyone those allegations should be investigated.
