ANC 2017 Elective Conference

Recalling Zuma will divide the ANC - MKMVA's Kebby Maphatsoe

ANC veterans and the Umkhonto We Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) do not see eye-to-eye on calls to sack President Jacob Zuma.

ANC stalwart Murphy Morobe says veterans of the party will persist with their pleas to have Zuma recalled.

The veterans released a statement congratulating newly elected ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa and called for the party to start process of cleansing itself.

Cyril Ramaphosa will find that this [recalling Zuma] is one of top matters he will have to look at.

Morobe says that Zuma should be recalled as there cannot be two centres of power in the organisation.

ANC veterans also want a new National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP) appointed urgently.

Morobe says the ANC could suffer in the 2019 general elections if they do not take decisive action against self-serving politicians.

The incoming president is going to be faced with these contending positions that emerge.

Meanwhile, MKMVA president Kebby Maphatsoe believes recalling Zuma will divide the governing party.

This thing of recalling the President will divide the ANC.
