Sylvester Chauke Opinion: Hello Twenty Slayteen
So yes, we have seen it come as expected – Instagram’s Best 9 summing up your most awesome posts of 2017, there has been a gazillion memes saying goodbye to the year that was and then obviously in the last 2 days it’s been a festival of “new me”, “next level”, “twenty slayteen” and many variations of “hello 2018 – we’re ready for you”.
Then again, we are not surprised, right? Because we know this game and in many ways, we have come to expect it and like many of us, we kinda want to just get on with it. But I would like us to pause a little before “getting on with it”.
We are a couple of days into the new year, and many of us are still pretty much on holiday mode, glowing in the possibilities of a fresh start.
January is an interesting and extra special month (my birthday!!!) as it brings with it a renewed sense of openness to change for the better - a better approach, a better life, and hell yeah, a better you.
For marketers, this is an exciting time where we have an opportunity to truly bring some new ideas to the table.
This is the time when I look back, that many CEOs are very open to new ideas and the freshness that a new year brings.
There is no better opportunity than now – to sell that bold idea, that audacious over the top approach you are pregnant with but thought perhaps would not see the light of day….
A new year has that “thing” in the air that says anything is possible and you’ll see how excited people are, how much more fun energy is in our boardrooms and workrooms.
Take advantage of this time to chart an exciting path for your brand(s) and who knows, this could be the year of that mega bonus, a hot award and the biggest year for you and your team…
This is the time to reinvigorate ourselves, to shed the baggage of the previous year and to finally find the thing that make the pots to be done.
I wish you a fresher than fresh start to the year and remember this awesome feeling is not just for January okay. Happy 2018! Pow!
