ACDP: Decriminalising sex work will fuel drug trade, human trafficking in SA

The African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) has argued that the ANC's plans to fully decriminalise sex work will lead to increased abuse, human trafficking and drug trafficking.

ACDP leader Kenneth Meshoe says that sex work is inextricably linked to the illegal drug trade.

Decriminalisation will see the removal of criminal penalties for sex workers as well as those making use of their services.

Meshoe has slammed the governing party for failing to provide adequate jobs as an alternative to sex work.

We have a problem of human trafficking income in this country and women and child abuse.

Kenneth Meshoe, ACDP President

If prostitution is decriminalised in South Africa, the problem of women and child abuse if going to increase.

Kenneth Meshoe, ACDP President

Human and drug trafficking is going to increase. You cannot have prostitution without drugs.

Kenneth Meshoe, ACDP President

What they are trying to do is disgusting and it is wrong.
