Helping your kids set meaningful goals for the year

The New Year is bound to bring some personal goal setting and resolutions in many households. Parenting coach at transformational parenting, Mia Von Scha sheds light on the ways to manage your childs goals into the new year.

Von Scha says that when it comes to goal setting and children, the objective is more about getting them into the habit of the practice.

Rather than placing focus on a major thing they need to achieve in the year, it’s better to look at factors that are important to them says Von Scha. She adds that your childs goal could be beating their high score on a computer game.

It’s more about getting them into a process of, what is it that I want to achieve. Setting that as a clear objective for themselves and then actually taking action steps towards that.

Von Scha says that they need to be able to readjust if they don’t achieve their goals. She adds that it’s very easy for parents to manipulate their children’s goals.

The worst thing we can possibly do is actually impose goals onto our children.
