10 wealthiest Africans (according to a new Forbes ‘rich list’)

Nigerian cement and commodities tycoon Aliko Dangote is the richest African for the seventh year in a row.

This is according a new survey (5 January) by Forbes.

He is worth $12.2 billion, up $100 million from a year ago.

South African mining heir Nicky Oppenheimer is the second richest African, worth $7.7 billion, up by $700 million from last year.

Other South Africans on the billionaires’ list include Michiel le Roux (Capitec Bank) and Desmond Sacco (Assore Group).

Christo Wiese saw his wealth drop from $5.5 billion a year ago to $1.1 billion on 5 January.
