It’s back to school & back to reality for those getting ready for the classroom

The 2018 school year is almost upon us and with that comes a host of preparations like seeing that all students are accommodated in schools close to their homes.

In a couple of days’, children from across the province will be flocking to their various schools. Africa asks the Director of Communications at Western Cape Education Paddy Attwell if the Department is ready for another academic year?

Attwell responds by pointing out that all schools are ready to start on Wednesday. He adds that teachers are starting to get classrooms ready for the influx of students.

As far as vandalism is concerned, we do identify schools at risk, and then we identify special measures to look after schools during holidays.

Paddy Attwell, Director of Communications at Western Cape Education

Attwell says that the incidence of vandalism is decreasing, but the Department does rely on the community to be their eyes and ears.
