'There is no evidence' - Dagada rubbishes forensic report

Suspended Joburg's MMC of Finance Rabelani Dagada has denied allegations of undue influence and nepotism, and insists he has been cleared of any wrong doing.

On Monday, Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba said he had no choice but to suspend Dagada after a forensic investigation found that he had not declared his interests and was involved in price fixing with a service provider.

Dagada has however rubbished the report and says it has in fact cleared him of the mentioned allegations.

The only thing that the forensic report says is there is no evidence against Dagada neither verbal or documentary, however the perception that he could have influenced may not be dismissed.

That is nonsense because forensic report can't talk about perceptions. It should talk about facts, it should talk about hard evidence. My lawyers and I said to them they should change that statement.

I received a call, he [Mashaba] went through organised crime, they called me yesterday and they were laughing about it. They say they don't understand what people have had for breakfast, no prosecutor will waste their time There is no evidence.

Dagada has accused Mashaba of attempting to push him off of the mayoral committee.

The mayor tried five times to get me out of the mayoral committee. Part of what has been done in this investigation was to put pressure on two staff members who themselves are under investigation, to write affidavits against me and again those affidavits are not backed up by any evidence.

He is a dictator, I am the only person who could say to the mayor I don't agree...he wants to be surrounded by yes men and yes women, and that is the problem.
