Frankly I don't think anybody trusts Shaun Abrahams for the prosecution of anybody close to the Zuma family or the Gupta family.

David Lewis Managing Director for Corruption Watch

Lewis says the courts have empowered the Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa with appointing the new head of the NPA and thinks he should act on it as soon as possible.

If we want to see robust and timely criminal prosecution, that appointment should be done immediately.

Lewis says there are changes within the NPA and there will be more in the coming months because Cyril Ramaphosa is at the helm of the ANC.

He says the good people within the NPA will feel liberated y such a move.

It wouldn't have happened if the leadership of the NPA was still as powerful as they were a couple of months ago and the leadership of the ANC was still in the hands of Zuma.
