[LISTEN] Will the Steering wheel disappear in the future ?

As technology becomes more sophisticated, so too do our cars. It is has come the the point where we may see vehicles with no steering wheels in the future thanks to autonomous technology.

Nicol Louw, Technical Editor at CAR Magazine says that there are 5 levels of autonomous driving.

He adds if you buy a new Mercedes S Class or a BMW 7 Series, you are already at level 2 of autonomous driving, because of adaptive cruise control and breaking.

At level 3, Louw says you can leave the steering wheel alone, while you drive expect to make corrections, meaning steering wheeless driving could just be around the corner.

What GM is stating is level 5 autonomous driving. It is basically the same as catching an Uber, expect there is no Uber driver - the car takes you where every you want to go.
