Peter Hain says law firm Hogan Lovells should be suspended for aiding corruption

UK politician Lord Peter Hain has implicated a London based law firm for its involvement in state capture.

Lord Hain says that the law firm Hogan Lovells had helped to enable corruption at the South African Revenue Service (SARS), saying that they have exonerated Sars Commissioner Tom Moyane and senior employee Jonas Makwakwa.

He labelled Moyane and Makwakwa as “corrupt” and accused Hogan Lovells of being “either a willingly gullible or malevolent accomplice.

When I spoke about this on Monday in Parliament it explains that instead of getting to the root of this, Hogan Lovells just did a whitewash.

And when you look at the details they were consistently overlooking what was really going on and that's why I have described it as a whitewash.

Sars on the other hand has denied the allegations saying that Hain based his allegations on false media reports.

Hain says his evidence was provided by individuals within the revenue services, who knows exactly what is going on.

In addition he says all the other companies that were implicated in state capture, Bell Pottinger, KPMG, SAP, McKinsey and HSBC have all denied the allegations until they were forced to come clean.

He believes Hogan Lovells is also in the same queue as these other companies.

Let me be clear, I am not a one person investigative machine, I am me. All I am doing is at the request of the concerned South Africans, particularly ANC stalwarts who first approached me on this matter last year.
